Loup to consider new PURPA standards

Congress amended the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act (PURPA) by adding two retail service standards as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021. We are required by PURPA to consider and determine whether to adopt the standards by November 15, 2023.

The two new retail service standards being considered are:

  • Demand Response Practices
  • Electric Vehicle Charging Programs

Loup, working with its wholesale partner Nebraska Public Power District, has prepared management reports detailing its preliminary recommendation for these two standards.

  • Demand Response Practices Standard
  • Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Programs

A public hearing on these standards is scheduled at 10 a.m. on September 26, 2023, at the Loup Power District General Office, 2404 15th Street, Columbus, Nebraska.
