The Nebraska Department of Labor serves as the public labor exchange system between employers and job seekers across the state. NEworks, our internet platform is the largest, most comprehensive job board in the state, and it has endless resources. The Columbus Career Center staff work with employers every day throughout our seven-county jurisdiction, posting your job openings, screening applicants, making referrals, and hosting job fairs or hiring events. We also have a large network of partners that collaborate to resolve the economy’s workforce challenges.

Workforce Development
The Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce spearheads a worker recruitment program to bring people to the Columbus area. As industrial skill sets are needed by industry, the Workforce Development program actively recruits at technical colleges and other communities in Nebraska and neighboring states. Several hundred people have chosen to make the Columbus area their home. In the last three years, families have moved from South Dakota, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Michigan, among other states. Central Community College – Community and Workforce Education Center
Central Community College Columbus Campus (CCC) is a primary source of training and education for business and industry. Training services include:
- Technical skills including mechatronics, industrial maintenance, welding, CNC machining, and electricity
- Safety training — hazardous materials, confined spaces, OSHA, forklift
- Quality Control, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, root cause analysis
- Supervisory skills, leadership training, on-the-job/on-site training, customized company-specific training
- Plastic injection molding
- Traditional college programs with two-year degrees
Training classes are available at on-and off-campus sites. The classes are conducted by experienced trainers who have the knowledge and expertise needed for area businesses and their employees. College staffs develop and coordinate specially tailored short courses, workshops, and seminars to meet specific training needs.
