Rick Prater Retires

June 3, 2024

Rick Prater has retired from Loup Power District after more than 33 years of service.

Prater joined Loup in 1990 as a Line Technician at the Columbus Service Center.  He was promoted to Journey Line Technician in 1992. In 1996, he was promoted to Supervisor of Safety and Training.

Prater was responsible for all safety concerns and training throughout the District. He also co-chaired Loup’s Wellness Program.

Prater is a graduate of Norfolk High School and has an associate degree in utility line from Northeast Community College in Norfolk. 

He and his wife, Susan, have three children and two grandchildren — Joshua and his wife, Ashley, and their two children, Liara and Jaxon; Dillon and his wife, Rachel; and Brianna O’Neill and her husband, John.
