Students receive Skilled & Technology Sciences Scholarships

Five high school graduates have received the Skilled and Technology Sciences Scholarship for their work in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics courses at their high schools.

The scholarship recipients are: Columbus High School —Ace DeWine, Grady Gillespie, and Brynn Sloma; Lakeview High School — Daniel Borgman; and Scotus Central Catholic — Peter Faltys.

The Columbus Economic Council, Loup Power District, and local businesses provide support for STEM/STEAM programs at the students’ high schools.

The following local sponsors provided financial support to this year’s program: ADM Corn Processing, B-D Construction, Behlen Mfg., Bierman Contracting, Columbus Bank & Trust, Cornhusker Public Power District, Electrical Contracting Solutions (ECS), FLEXcon, Great Plains Building Supply, Lindsay Manufacturing, Pinnacle Bank, Technik Mfg., and TORIN Products.

Since its beginning in 2004, the Linkages Program has awarded 228 scholarships totaling $85,575.
